CBLC Privacy Notice: 

The purpose of the Colchester Business Lunch Club (CBLC) is to promote social contact between principals and decision makers in business and professions in Colchester.

Your personal data can, by itself, or with other data, be used to identify you. This privacy notice sets out how we, CBLC, the data controller, will use your personal data. The current CBLC Secretary 2018 is Robert Ashworth of Thompson Smith and Puxon who can be contacted on or 01206 574431 if you have any data queries.

If you are

  • A current member of the CBLC
  • A lapsed member (previous financial year) who has not yet renewed
  • Attending a CBLC lunch as a guest

Then the club will use the personal data that you have given us, including your email address, to contact you as part of the legitimate interests of the running the CBLC.

If you have not been a member of the CBLC during the previous 2 years we will seek your consent to continue to contact you.

How will your information be used? We will store your first and last name, company, and email address in our contacts database. We will use this information to

  • Contact you about forthcoming lunches
  • Collate lunch attendances and payments
  • Send reminders and information about lunch attendances
  • Chase lunch payments
  • Update you on other CBLC business as may be necessary from time to time

Sharing and storing your information: If you sign up to attend a lunch we will share your information; your name, company and menu choices with others as follows:

  • The restaurant
  • Other attendees via PDF attached to email
  • Other attendees via hard copy list at the lunch club venue

As the CBLC is a voluntary organisation your data will, by necessity, be processed by companies who give their time and resources to the organisation and running of the CBLC. Your data will only be processed by those companies for the purpose for which it is intended and access will only be granted to company employees who require it in order to carry out business on the club’s behalf. Your data will not be shared with any other third parties and will not be transferred outside of the EU.

We will store and process your information for the duration of your membership and for one year thereafter, at which point we will contact you to review your consent to be contacted by the CBLC. We will also hold details of lunch attendances, name, company and menu choices for the current year and for the two full previous years.  

You can opt-out of receiving CBLC communications at any time and / or cancel your CBLC membership by contacting  and we will remind you of this whenever we contact you. You can ask us to forget or erase your information at any time. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office. It has enforcement powers and can investigate compliance with data protection law: You have the right to access, rectify or erase the information the CBLC holds about you and can do this by contacting the Secretary at any time.
